Responsibilities for the Medical Laboratory Technologist MLT/MT:
- Collect, process and perform testing on patient specimens
- Manage processes effectively in regard to employee and patient safety
- Maintain all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other lab documents as required
- Support and communicate medical laboratory initiatives and philosophies
- Participate in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, cost and establishment of reference intervals; writes and revises technical procedures
- Perform complex laboratory procedures; recognize deviation from expected results; analyze and correct problems using scientific principles
- Analyze quality control data, make judgments concerning results and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision
- Answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results
- Review all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all patient information used in the performance of the job
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science or completion of related Technician Program
- MLT certification from the ASCP or equivalent registry
- 2+ years clinical lab experience, preferred
