Responsibilities for the Nursing Director Surgical Services/Perioperative Services:
- Oversee the main operating room, ambulatory surgery, and PACU
- Assess perioperative procedures and make recommendations
- Hire, train and mentor surgical RNs
- Remain knowledgeable on current techniques, and best nursing practices
- Ensure proper nurse staffing
- Promote and maintain staff development and growth
- Communicate kindly and respectfully with patients, families, and other hospital staff
- Ensure compliance with hospital and other regulations
- Manage budgeting for surgical services nursing dept
- Maintain safety and compliance throughout departments
- Collaborate well with healthcare teams throughout the OR, PACU, and surgical units
Requirements for the Nursing Director Surgical Services/Perioperative Services:
- BSN required
- MSN or other Master’s Degree Required
- Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification, preferred
- 3+ years of nurse leadership experience
- 5+ years OR nursing experience
- Strong surgical services experience
