This House Clinical Supervisor monitors and improves patient assessments, complies with documented treatment plans, and partners with nursing leadership to achieve optimal levels of health.

The Nursing House Supervisor for the Evening Shift will manage a team of RNs to assist patients of all ages and backgrounds. Resources used by the RN Supervisor to care for the patient loads include updated charts, personalized care plans, electronic reporting systems like NARS and EPIC.
The House Supervisor is responsible for continuously developing the nursing staff. As one of the largest nonprofit voluntary teaching hospitals in New York, the goal of the medical center is to provide resources and engaging content to grow the transformative service line. This position will collaborate with Nurse Educators and Nurse Managers to create programs for training and skill growth that coincides with the hospital’s mission and vision.
Responsibilities of the Nursing House Supervisor (Evenings):
Oversee evening nursing units and ensure patient needs are met by nursing staff
Monitor and evaluate current unit procedures and implement changes where needed to improve quality of care
Report to Director of Nursing DON with monthly and annual reports of unit statuses
Conduct regular staff meetings and act as a liaison between nursing staff and leadership
Train, onboard, and mentor incoming and current nurses
Collaborate with Nurse Educators to identify learning needs of staff and develop programs to grow nursing care skills and knowledge
Initiate and train nursing staff on completion of accurate nursing assessments such as MDS+, RUGS, and PRI
Complete announced and unannounced rounds to evaluate current nurse procedures and care
Assist staff in both routine and emergency procedures as needed
Review and report charts, care plans, and flow sheets in internal EMR system
Partner with patient care teams to ensure compliance with care plans, treatment schedules, and status changes
Compassionately communicate with patients and families
Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety within the unit
Requirements for the Nursing House Supervisor (Evenings):
Bachelor’s Degree BSN required
Master’s Degree MSN preferred
Licensed Registered Nurse RN in the state of New York
3+ years acute-care nursing experience
BLS, CPR certification
ACRN/AACRN certification or related certification preferred
2+ years nurse management or nurse supervisor experience preferred
CNL/CNML certification preferred
Working knowledge of RUGS, PRI, and MDS
Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC
