A Top Performer by The Joint Commission needs an RN Manager who can maintain a skilled nursing staff. The Cancer Unit RN Manager will have managerial control over a growing BMT, Hematology-Oncology, and Surgical Oncology cancer floor.
The Hospital’s Cancer Program provides a full spectrum of care with a holistic approach. On top of having a team of experts dedicated to finding a personalized treatment for each patient’s needs, the institute focuses on caring for the patient's emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The Oncology RN Nurse Manager will facilitate engagement with the team, building motivation and enthusiasm and solidifying evidence-based oncology processes.
The position will oversee the cancer treatment program featuring major oncology care plans such as Med-Surg Radiation and Mammography and Blood/Marrow Treatment. The Oncology Nurse Manager will participate in quality programs such as NCQA and Blue Distinction Center to provide care beyond expectations.
Responsibilities of the Oncology RN Nurse Manager:
Oversee the Oncology department’s daily operations
Report to ACNO to develop goals, quality initiatives and
Achieve strategic plans such as staff stabilization, excellent quality scores, and excellent associate feedback scores
24/7 management of over 10+ oncology nurses
Onboard, develop, and mentor oncology and BMT program nurses and PCCs
Collaborate with the Cancer Center Nursing Educators to create training programs focused on patient-centered care
Build engagement and relationships on nursing teams to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate oncology care
Act as a liaison between ACNO and nursing staff to discuss internal staff needs
Manage an operational and fiscal budget to ensure a cost-effective service line while maintaining high-quality care
Order and sterile stock equipment needed throughout the center based on budgetary guidelines
Assess current care plans within the oncology unit and implement improvements to solidify treatment processes
Collaborate with Chemo Oncology Nurses and Case Managers to maintain updated patient statuses within EMR, and treatment actions are recorded
Partner with patient physicians and medical teams on patient care plans that include oncology treatment such as infusions, biopsies, mammograms, and surgeries
Communicate with patients and families kindly during the diagnosis, consultation, and treatment process
Create an understanding of care options such as minimally invasive surgeries, palliative surgeries, and tumor removal
Maintain CoC and ACS accreditation through participation in Quality Management Program from The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
Ensure compliance with regional, state, and federal regulations, including with The Joint Commission, throughout the oncology floor
Requirements for the Oncology RN Nurse Manager:
BSN Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
MSN Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Valid RN License Tennessee
4+ years of nursing experience in inpatient, acute care settings
CPR and BLS by AHA required
4+ years of Oncology, BMT, and or Breast Health nursing experience
OCN, CBCN, BMTCN, AOCNS/AOCN, or related certifications
3+ years experience in nurse leadership/supervisory
CNML, CNL, or NE-BC required
