Responsibilities of the
Inpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP:
- Practice evidence-based psychiatric care for assigned inpatient mental health patients
- Create individualized patient treatment plans through assessment of mental state
- Collaborate multi-disciplinary staff to ensure safe, therapeutic, and effective treatment is provided
- Provide and guide appropriate clinical direction and support to the treatment team
- Order testing, procedures and referrals as appropriate
- Prescribe medications as necessary
- Assist hospitalists and specialists in providing behavioral and mental health care
Requirements for the
Inpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP:
- Master’s Degree MSN from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Licensure as a RN Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the State of Massachusetts
- ANCC/AANP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
- 2+ years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or related setting
- 2+ years of experience as NP
