A nationally recognized academic medical center is hiring an energetic and transformative RN Manager of the Operating Room. The Nurse Manager will be leading a solid and patient-focused nursing team in a 20+ bed OR unit. The ideal OR Nurse Manager is an experienced servant leader with a proven history of improving nurse retention, quality outcomes, and solid team culture.
Part of a Blue Distinction Center-designated Healthcare system, the Operating Room utilizes evidence-based practices and focuses on continuous growth in the unit and nursing staff. The Operating Room RN Nurse Manager must hold the nursing team accountable, establish clear metrics, and maintain a collaborative, patient-centered team approach. This nurse leader will achieve the unit's goals through partnership with other department leaders to improve safety and quality standards throughout the hospital.
Responsibilities of the Operating Room RN Nurse Manager:
Oversee all nursing aspects of the Operating Room Unit and service line
24/7 management of 80+ OR FTEs
Hire, schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate surgical unit nursing staff
Develop a partnership with the Nurse Educators to create team-building activities and promote nurse retention and growth
Report to the Senior Director of Perioperative Services and support quality improvement initiatives and growth through the operating department
Achieve unit based goals outcomes and drive strategy through collaboration with departmental leadership
Promote evidence-based nursing practice for perioperative patients, including pre and post-surgery
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including, Physicians, Surgeons, Case Managers, and Advanced Practice Nurses to achieve optimal levels of health in OR patients
Communicate kindly and respectfully with patients and families
Ensure continued safety and compliance based on guidelines set by organizations such as The Joint Commission and Leapfrog
Requirements for the Operating Room RN Nurse Manager:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN; MSN preferred
Magnet nursing experience preferred
Current RN license in the state of Tennessee
3+ years of nursing experience in OR/surgical services
CNOR, CFPN, CNAMB, or related certifications are a plus
3+ years of nursing management experience
CSSM, CNL, NE-BC, or related nurse leader certification
Results-oriented, servant leader with proven ability to increase metrics
