Experienced Oncology Nurse Educator Needed at CoC Awarded Cancer Unit This QOPI accredited Oncology program is hiring a seasoned and skilled oncology educator who encourages compassionate, evidence-based nursing. The RN Educator will coordinate and guide activities/projects of the Oncology nursing team. An ideal candidate utilizes strong nurse leadership skills and experience in patient-focused oncology practices to develop a strong unit.
A recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, the Oncology Unit focuses on providing the best treatment options available. The Oncology Clinical RN Nurse Educator will collaborate with leadership and oncology staff throughout the medical center to maintain the highly recognized services of the accredited full-service Cancer Center.
The Joint Commission Gold Star designated Cancer Center will need the Nurse Educator to advance the knowledge and skills within the department team. The Oncology Educator will focus on developing clinical expertise in oncology, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring, and change leadership.
Responsibilities of the Oncology Clinical RN Nurse Educator:
Oversee development of skills and practices within the oncology unit and nursing team
Supervise 25+ oncology nursing staff and oversee coordinated team-growth activities
Assist in training, onboarding, and mentoring of new oncology RNs
Collaborate with nurse managers and directors to create and implement engaging skill development content
Evaluate current patient cancer care processes and monitor areas in need of improvement
Partner with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies
Integrate knowledge of cancer and medical treatments into assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
Provide expert knowledge on oncology and cancer treatment techniques
Maintain a compassionate continuum of care, including cancer prevention and detection, cancer diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, survivorship, and end-of-life care
Ensure compliance throughout the oncology floor per organizations such as The Joint Commission and Commission on Cancer
Communicate with patients and families kindly and respectfully
Requirements for the Oncology Clinical RN Nurse Educator:
MSN Master’s Degree in Nursing Required
Doctorate in Nursing (Ph.D., EdD, or DNP) is preferred
Current RN licensure in the state of New York; Valid NP licensure is a plus
