This renowned New York hospital is looking for an RN Nurse Manager who can bring outstanding leadership and patient care to their behavioral health unit. The ideal RN Nurse Manager-Behavioral Mental Health, Psychiatry has leadership experience and diverse background in mental health. This position requires proven experience leading a patient-focused team that is ready to achieve the best levels of mental health.
Accredited by the DEA and OASAS for the Recovery Center, the Behavioral Health Unit needs a Manager who is adaptable, compassionate, and willing to develop the staff. The Clinical RN Nurse Manager for the Behavioral Health Unit will use strong leadership, conflict management, and team-building skills to build a robust and stable unit.
The BHU Mental Health Psychiatric inpatient unit carries an ADC of 25 patients with disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Psychotic Spectrum Disorders, OCD, and Trauma-Related Disorders. The Nurse Manager will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary treatment team including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physicians, licensed clinical social workers, creative art therapists, and nursing staff. This position will provide the highest level of intensive, expeditious, and patient-focused clinical care.
Responsibilities for the RN Nurse Manager-Behavioral Mental Health, Psychiatry:
Oversee 26-bed inpatient Behavioral Health Unit service unit
Manage 45+ FTEs
Evaluate, assess, educate, and mentor psychiatric nursing staff
Collaborate with Nurse Educators to create engaging education programs focused on affective, psychotic, and neuropsychiatric disorders and Behavioral Health Assessment tools
Guide nursing staff to deliver patient-centered care to individuals and families through training, performance reviews, and evaluations
Report to the Nurse Director of Psychiatric Mental Health to create a stable, team-oriented unit through strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, shared governance, and fiscal responsibility.
Evaluate and improve methodology, productivity, and workflow to achieve the highest value of care
Manage efficient inpatient treatment plans consisting of comprehensive emergency and crisis programs and psychiatric consultations
Evaluate adult patient cases involving disorders and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, PTSD, and others
Promote compassionate and evidence-based care conducive to individualized patient care
Ensure safety and compliance throughout the behavioral health unit
Requirements for the RN Nurse Manager-Behavioral Mental Health, Psychiatry:
Required Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN; MSN preferred
Current RN license in the state of New York
3+ years of inpatient nursing experience in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Psychiatry, Recovery, Addiction Medicine, or related field
CPR/ACLS and BLS Certification
PMH-BC or associated certifications are strongly preferred
1+ years of nursing management experience
CSSM, CNL, NE-BC, or related nurse leader certification, a plus
Member of AONL, APNA, ISPN, ANA, or related Professional Nursing Organization preferred
