Award-Winning Surgical Unit ICU Needing Seasoned Nurse Manager This US News and World Report High Performing Medical Center needs an RN Manager who can bring strong leadership to a 15+ Bed Surgical ICU Department. Overseeing approximately 50 FTEs, the Critical Care ICU Nurse Manager will promote compassionate, evidence-based nursing and increase the overall patient experience. The RN Manager will achieve goals within the surgical intensive care unit by collaborating with a multi-disciplinary care team and by encouraging a pro-nursing work culture.

The RN Nurse Manager of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit SICU brings new strategies and improvements to assist the patients in critical care. The Nurse Manager of the SICU is responsible for continuously developing the nursing staff. As one of the largest nonprofit voluntary teaching hospitals in New York, the medical center's goal is to provide resources and engaging content to grow the transformative service line. This position will collaborate with Nurse Educators and Nurse Managers to create training and skill growth programs that coincide with the hospital’s mission and vision.
Responsibilities of the RN Nurse Manager Surgical Intensive Care Unit SICU:
Manage 15+ bed SICU with oversight of Interventional Radiology
Oversee 50+ full-time employees in SICU on a 24/7 basis
Partner with ANMs to onboard, train, and mentor new and current RN staff
Assist staff in daily interdisciplinary rounds with unit surgical intensivists
Evaluate Interventional Radiology and SICU nursing teams and implement performance improvement initiatives
Organize continued training programs and resources with Nurse Educators to encourage and facilitate staff development
Report to the RN Director, Critical Care Services, and work closely with SICU Assistant Nurse Managers, Educators, and the nursing team
Carry out strategic plans for the Critical care Department to improve patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and overall quality of care
Collaborate with the surgical team and discuss treatment options to achieve a non-critical state of health in patients
Participate in the monitoring of patients as needed to ensure quality care is provided
Compassionately communicate with patients and families on treatments and health updates
Assess current finances and cost-effectively manage budgets without declining the quality of care to SICU patients
Requirements for the RN Nurse Manager Surgical Intensive Care Unit SICU:
Master’s Degree in Science of Nursing MSN required
Current New York RN license
2+ years of critical care, ICU/SICU/MICU/CCU nursing experience
BLS/CPR, ACLS certification
CCRN, BCEN, TNCC, or related certifications preferred
2+ years experience in nursing management/supervisory role
CNML, CENP, or related certifications preferred
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams, including SICU and interventional radiology
