The ideal Rheumatology Physician has a passion for caring for patients with rheumatic diseases and focuses on communication throughout the office.
Gold Seal of Approval designated by the Joint Commission, this hospital and Medical Group Practice needs a physician to prioritize growth and high-quality patient treatment. The Rheumatology Physician MD/DO will see 20+ daily patients involving various cases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren’s syndrome, scleroderma, and osteoarthritis. The Physician works autonomously within the physician-led group and supports the staff.
Responsibilities for the Rheumatologist MD/DO Rheumatology Physician:
Provide quality evaluation and assessment of rheumatic diseases of 20+ daily patient cases
Diagnose and create care plans for patients with diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren’s syndrome, scleroderma, and osteoarthritis
Conduct physical examinations, including taking x-rays and MRIs as needed to diagnose conditions
Treat soft tissue problems related to musculoskeletal systems and sports-connected soft tissue disorders
Perform biopsies to remove tissue samples for analysis by a pathologist or other specialist
Collaborate with providers, Practice Administrators, and the Chief of Rheumatology to create a collaborative and autonomous work environment
Provide consultations to other physicians regarding complex cases that they are unable to diagnose or treat
Refer patients to other specialists when appropriate to help them manage their conditions
Teach patients how to manage their condition, work with their physician on a treatment plan, and prevent flare-ups of their disease from occurring
Listen and communicate with compassion about patient’s concerns and feedback
Requirements for the Rheumatologist MD/DO Rheumatology Physician:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required
Licensed Physician MD/DO in the state of New York
BC/BE in rheumatology
2+ years of post-residency/fellowship rheumatology practice experience
