The Patient Safety, Quality Hospital Director is responsible for promoting safety culture, high reliability concepts, and performance excellence. Overseeing all of Patient Safety and Quality for the 350-bed Hospital, the Quality System Director will actively participate with the Hospitals Patient Safety Organization.
The ideal Nurse Executive must have a clinical background and years of supervisory, management experience in Quality and Hospital Safety.
Responsibilities of the System Hospital Director-Quality and Patient Safety:
Responsible for all leadership within Patient Safety and Quality Department
24/7 management over 15+ department employees
Initiate, institute and evaluate departmental goals in collaboration with the Senior VP and other leadership team members
Report hospital’s quality and safety data in a timely manner to state and national agencies as well as external agencies such as Leapfrog and Anthem QHIP
Assess the current Patient Safety Evaluation System and implement improvements as needed
Maintain continued reporting of quality and safety data to the hospital’s Patient Safety Organization
Perform Safety Event Response process steps including incident review, safety event investigations, reporting, and follow-up monitoring
Act as a point of contact between nursing staff and hospital leadership in regards to quality assurance and patient safety
Oversee development of nursing staff with quality and safety policy training programs
Promote the hospital’s safety culture, high reliability concepts, and performance excellence within the community
Monitor current expenses, finances, and accounting to ensure a cost-effective and quality service line
Requirements of the System Hospital Director-Quality and Patient Safety:
BSN Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Nursing Leadership, or a related field preferred
Valid Virginia or Multi-State RN license HIGHLY PREFERRED
10 + years acute care healthcare experience in Patient Safety, Quality, Improvement, Risk Prevention
5+ years Leadership experience within Patient Safety, Quality, Improvement, Risk Prevention
5+ years experience in post-acute care setting like Home Health or Hospice is a plus
Proven experience promoting safety culture, high reliability concepts, and performance excellence.
Extensive reporting experience with RL6 incident reporting software, HPI safety system, LEAN, Cerner or Six Sigma
Acute care CMS reporting requirement experience – IQO, OQR, IPFQR
