Nationally Awarded Patient-Centered Medical Facility Seeking Experienced Infection Control Registered Nurse This Infection Control RN is accountable for maintaining infection control within the hospital environment. The position requires clinical experience in areas such as infection assessment, isolation and/or treatment of staff with infectious diseases.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in ensuring hospital physical safety. Using their experience working in an acute care setting would allow this candidate to provide a healthy and safe working environment. As a Certified Infection Control RN, the position allows for professional growth through activities like coordinating with the Environmental Health and Safety Department. The duties such as working with various departments such as Human Resources, Engineering and Procurement allows management growth as well as quality safety in the facility.
Responsibilities of Infection Control RN:
Ensure that all the infection control processes are carried out effectively and efficiently
Manage infection documentation and policies to ensure proper use of all resources
Operate control equipment and monitors its operation
Review policies and procedures, update as necessary, and educate workers on infection control
Acquire, maintain, and transfer healthcare information, knowledge, and technology related to infection control
Provide support on a full spectrum of health care issues related to infection control and infection prevention
Evaluate appropriate control strategies and controls for infection prevention and control, including the need for interventions, types of interventions, and their duration
Develop protocols for nurses, technicians, physicians, and other healthcare staff to follow when treating known or suspected infectious diseases
Represent the facility in cooperative relationships with local, state, and federal organizations that promote worker health and safety
Requirements of Infection Control RN:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Current NYS RN license
Must have 3+ years in a related clinical setting
Preferred CIC certification or working knowledge and understanding of this certification
