This Magnet-Designated New England Hospital is looking for a skilled and compassionate Critical Care Registered Nurse. An ideal candidate is an experienced acute care nurse with experience in MICU, SICU, CCU, or ICU. The ICU RN focuses on providing evidence-based care while maintaining a positive work environment in the Level II Trauma Hospital.
As a US News and World Report High Performing Hospital, the ICU Critical Care Staff Nurse RN is an essential team member during the night shift. Responsibilities of the ICU, Critical Care Staff Nurse RN (Nights):
Achieve patient-centered care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
Provide evidence-based care to critically ill adult medical and surgical patients in a Nurse to Patient ratio of 1:2
Assess patients with a variety of diagnoses, including medical, surgical, trauma, and open heart
Oversee patients with ventilators, post-cardiac arrest, STEMI, balloon pumps, CVA, post-trauma, post neuro procedures, and post-open-heart surgery.
Ensure patients receive complex, specialized critical care, and constant monitoring
Report to the RN Nurse Manager and Nurse leaders for reference on questions or concerns about the unit or patients
Participate in regular rounds with Nurse Managers to report current patient treatment plans
Partner with skilled specialty physicians, house physicians, and respiratory therapists to create specialized care plans for each patient
Update EMR system with patient statuses, notes, and treatment plans
Compassionately communicate with patients and families on treatments and health updates
Maintain 6+ annual contact hours to continue education and grow skillset
Requirements of theICU, Critical Care Staff Nurse RN (Nights):
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor's degree in Science of Nursing BSN
Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse RN License
2+ Acute Care ICU, Critical Care Nursing experience
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification
CCRN Certification preferred
TNCC/CEN certification preferred
Experience and knowledge of IV, Ventilation, and related critical care activities
Maintain min. six contact hours annually
