The Geri-Psych Assistant RN Nurse Manager, is responsible for ensuring that the 20-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health unit is running smoothly and effectively. The Psychiatric RN Assistant Nurse Manager will have a patient-centered approach and lead the nursing team to ensure all aspects of mental health care are being met.
The primary focus of the Geriatric Psychiatric unit is to provide high quality, consistent and compassionate care to every patient in the unit. The Assistant Nurse RN Manager Care will work closely with the Behavioral Health Nursing Director to ensure the unit meets the needs of the patients, families, and leadership.
Responsibilities of the Assistant RN Nurse Manager, Geri-Psychiatric, Behavioral Health Unit
- Works under the supervision of the Mental Health RN Director.
- 24/7 nursing supervision of 20-bed psych unit including RNs, CNAs, Counselors and Mental Health Assistants
- Utilizes Behavioral Health nursing knowledge, skills, and experience to provide high quality care.
- Communicates with other team members regarding patient needs.
- Maintains an organized and prioritized work environment.
- Provides direct patient care and support to patients within a Geri-Psych area.
- Manages the health care needs of geriatric patients in a psychiatric environment, including those who have been hospitalized or have been transferred from other areas.
- Works collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other medical personnel to ensure continuity of care between departments and units.
- Ensures that all required resources are available to provide safe and effective patient care.
Requirements for the Assistant RN Nurse Manager, Geri-Psychiatric, Behavioral Health Unit
- BSN Bachelor’s Degree Nursing
- 3+ year Psychiatric experience
- Geriatric nursing experience a plus!
- 2+ years as Charge Nurse, Coordinator, Assistant RN Manager
- Current RN Nursing license in the state of Massachusetts
