The ICU Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) needs to effectively communicate with patients and their families about the evidence-based care and status of their health. This intensive care RN must be able to work with attending staff to achieve optimal levels of health for their patients.
Responsibilities for the ICU Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN):
- Closely monitor high acuity patients
- Assist in evaluation and diagnosis of ICU patients with various diagnoses
- Efficiently care for patients with different statuses such as ventilators, post cardiac arrest, post trauma, etc
- Provide caring treatment at a nurse/patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1
- Monitor progress, report status to attending physicians and administer medications as necessary
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families
- Collaborate well with nursing team and leadership
- Participate in shift rotations as needed
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- BSN Nursing Degree strongly preferred
- BLS Certification needed
- Current RN license in state of Connecticut
- 2+ ICU experience or Critical Care preferred
- Collaboration with MAGNET designated staff and hospital
