A United Hospital Fund’s “Excellence in Healthcare” Recipient is hiring a skilled Nurse Practitioner Leader for their Occupational Health Services Program. The ideal Nurse Practitioner is flexible, understands the importance of patient and employee safety, and is a natural leader. The Employee Health Nurse Practitioner Director will ensure the education and safety of hospital staff and the community.
The Nurse Practitioner/RN Director of Employee Occupational Health can effectively lead the Employee Care team to meet established goals and service expectations. The Nurse Practitioner, Occupational Health Leader, will use innovative prevention and control initiatives to create a safe work environment. Along with implementing significant changes within safety education and control with current staff, the director will ensure new hires are in positive physical health to perform daily duties.
The Employee Health Clinical Director will create and monitor a health and safety program that is cost-efficient but high quality. This position must embrace prevention & health promotion and work to address the social determinants of health creatively.
Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner/RN Director Employee Occupational Health:
Monitor environment of care, environment cleanliness, and compliance with employee health control policies
Report to the VP of Support Services and communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and regular interpersonal communication
Enhance quality improvement activities by assessing and measuring hospital employee health and evaluating outcomes continuously
Provide performance feedback through a formal performance review process, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action
Oversee and assess the need for employee immunizations and manage the administration of all immunizations given
Work with the Safety Department to identify and prevent hospital-associated infections and illness in staff
Manage the Wellness Program for employees
Collaborate closely with the Benefits/HR to adhere to hospital policies and regulations about medical referrals/clearances, employee disability, in-service and orientation
Oversees the pre-employment medical requirements such as physical examination, laboratory requirements such as drug screening, and immunization completion, which includes MMR, Hepatitis B Vaccines, and PPDs
Manages staff members regarding client's scheduled orientation, and laboratory schedules and results
Record all current data and departmental statistics on employee health and report to appropriate organizations
Prepare the Annual Operating Budget and monitor monthly expenses to ensure the department is within budget
Collaborate and lead hospital health education sessions regarding safety and departmental policies and programs
Requirements for the Nurse Practitioner/RN Director Employee Occupational Health:
MSN from Accredited School of Nursing Required
Current NP Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of NY required
Registered Nurse RN in the state of New York
6+ years of Nurse Practitioner experience in employee health or related field
BLS/CPR and ACLS Certification
COHN certified by the ABOHN preferred
1+ supervisory/leadership experience
CNL/CNML/CENP certification preferred
Working knowledge of RUGS, PRI, and MDS
Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC
